The wide-ranging geology of major mineral prospects held by Romios Gold
Abstract:
Romios Gold Resources Inc. is actively exploring two major properties covering a broad range of mineral deposit types:
- its Newmont Lake-JW-Trek skarn-manto-porphyry copper prospects in BC’s Golden Triangle, and
- the Lundmark-Akow Lake Cu-Au-Ag-(Co) VMS project in NW Ontario.
The Trek Cu-(Au) alkalic porphyry is ~3 km from the proposed mill site for Teck-Newmont’s Galore Creek project and has been only partially drilled off. It remains open down-dip and along strike. The >1 km wide JW porphyry prospect is located ~6 km from the Galore Creek deposits. It exhibits classic porphyry copper alteration assemblages and is largely untested. The recently renewed development activity at Galore Creek should greatly benefit the economics of these 2 nearby prospects. The Newmont Lake project includes the gold-rich North West Zone manto-skarn deposit (1.4 Mt @ 4.4 g/t Au, 0.22% Cu, and 6.4 g/t Ag), as well as a mineralized skarn >500 m across thought to overly a buried porphyry system. Newmont Lake is now under option to Crystal Lake Mining who plan to spend > $4 million on drilling and other exploration in 2019. The Lundmark-Akow Lake VMS horizon in Ontario was discovered in a single drill hole by Romios in 2017 after a re-evaluation of the local geology and past drilling. This high-grade occurrence (2.35% Cu, 68 g/t Ag, 1.4 g/t Au) is associated with a “lower alteration zone” >3 km long and is unusual due to the abundance of tourmalinite both in the alteration zone and the mineralized exhalative horizon. Romios has now assembled a land package covering 8-9 km of conductors extending out from the discovery hole and plans to drill these in the summer of 2019.
